Kingsway English Centre is a language school providing first class intensive English courses for business, professional and other mature adults from abroad. It was started in 1988 by Sue and Rick Johns with one student at home at the kitchen table. The school now occupies lovely old buildings of 800sqm in the city of Worcester, providing courses to 10-35 students at any one time. Kingsway is Accredited by The British Council and IALC, and a member of English UK.
The City of Worcester
We are located in the city of Worcester, 25 miles south of Birmingham, 65 miles north-west of Oxford, and 60 miles north of Bristol. Because of its central location geographically it is very easy to get to by train or car from all of these places.
The school is located in the main street of Worcester, called Foregate Street. It is at the northern end of the retail heart of the city centre which means it's easy to find lots of places for lunch - as well as nipping out to do a bit of shopping! Despite being in the city centre there is a garden and car park which makes life convenient.
Travelling by Train
The school is located just 200m from Worcester Foregate Street train station. Turn right out of the station and we are on the opposite side of the street. The main connections to Worcester are :
- Birmingham from the north
- Bristol / Cheltenham / Gloucester fom the south
- London / Oxford from the east
- Wales / Hereford from the west
When travelling by train please be aware that there are 2 stations in Worcester. "Foregate Street" is in the city centre close to Kingsway and "Shrub Hill" is slightly out of the centre - about 15 minutes' walk or 5 minutes by taxi.
Travelling by Car
If arriving by car head for the city centre. Although the school fronts on to Foregate Street, the car park is round the back in Farrier Street (post code WR1 3BH) which runs parallel. The car park is easily identlfied by three sets of black iron gates and Kingsway English Centre signs.
